Welcome to my book blog!

I usually read books that pertain to the Supernatural/Paranormal genre. My blog will include books about vampires, witches, wolves, ghosts, and pretty much any other "not normal" thing. I just read for fun and thought this would be a great way to get my opinion on the so many books that I read, out there for everyone else to see! This is a very informal blog for me. Just my opinions and recommendations!

Born at Midnight Review

Title: Born at Midnight(Shadow Falls #1)

Author: C.C. Hunter

Publish Date: 3/29/2011

My Rating: ★★★★★

Synopsis:

One night Kylie Galen finds herself at the wrong party, with the wrong people, and it changes her life forever. Her mother ships her off to Shadow Falls—a camp for troubled teens, and within hours of arriving, it becomes painfully clear that her fellow campers aren’t just “troubled.” Here at Shadow Falls, vampires, werewolves, shapshifters, witches and fairies train side by side—learning to harness their powers, control their magic and live in the normal world.

Kylie’s never felt normal, but surely she doesn’t belong here with a bunch of paranormal freaks either. Or does she? They insist Kylie is one of them, and that she was brought here for a reason. As if life wasn’t complicated enough, enter Derek and Lucas. Derek’s a half-fae who’s determined to be her boyfriend, and Lucas is a smokin’ hot werewolf with whom Kylie shares a secret past. Both Derek and Lucas couldn’t be more different, but they both have a powerful hold on her heart.

Even though Kylie feels deeply uncertain about everything, one thing is becoming painfully clear—Shadow Falls is exactly where she belongs…

I loved this book. It was a wonderful mix of mystery, adventure, and romance. I cant imagine finding out that you aren't "normal". I was a little frustrated by the way that at the end of the book you still didn't find out what exactly Kylie is, but I'm guessing it's because there's much more to her than what is mentioned in the first book. At least I hope so!

The love triangle was awesome. The way it was written leaves you feeling like you're the one thats gasping for air after every kiss and leaves you wanting for more. I got frustrated at times and would be thinking to myself "Just kiss him already!" Lol the sexual tension was crazy!

The cliffhanger was a pretty good one as well, I have to say I didn't think the book would end how it did. All in all this was a great read and if you like the House of Night and Vampire Academy Series', you'll love this one as well!!

Torn Review

Title: Torn (Trylle Trilogy #2)

Author: Amanda Hocking

Publish Date: 2/27/2012

My Rating: ★★★★★

Synopsis:

When Wendy Everly first discovers the truth about herself—that she’s a changeling switched at birth—she knows her life will never be the same. Now she’s about to learn that there’s more to the story…

She shares a closer connection to her Vittra rivals than she ever imagined—and they’ll stop at nothing to lure her to their side. With the threat of war looming, her only hope of saving the Trylle is to master her magical powers—and marry an equally powerful royal. But that means walking away from Finn, her handsome bodyguard who’s strictly off limits…and Loki, a Vittra prince with whom she shares a growing attraction.

Torn between her heart and her people, between love and duty, Wendy must decide her fate. If she makes the wrong choice, she could lose everything, and everybody, she’s ever wanted…in both worlds.

Ahh, another brilliant book by Amanda Hocking! I absolutely loved it! I cannot wait to read the third installment in this awesome series.

I love everything that Wendy finds out in this book. And I especially love the love triangle that is unfolding. It was definitley intense reading Finn's moods and reactions to certain things and you begin to learn the reasoning behind Wendy's mothers actions and why she seems so cold hearted and distant. It almost makes you feel sorry for her. Almost.

Then we learn about who her dad really is. Not that I can say it was a shocker, I had it figured out by the end of the first book, but the way everything plays out leaves you wondering which option and life will she ultimately choose?

I love how vivid the detailing is with the description of the fights, and surroundings. It makes you feel as if you are right there and the emotions? I can say at times I felt like I was Wendy and I was the one trying to figure things out.

Like I said, I simply can't wait to read the third book in this trilogy. So far the books just seem to keep getting better so I can only imagine how great the last one will be!
